I was out on the marsh edge when i could hear a strange noise in the dark. It turned out to be ice breaking up in the tidal flow. A great test for the new pair of em172 mics. In the parabolic, olympus ls-5 recorder.

This sample is part of the icefield-library. I used a pair of soundman okm2 mics as contact microphones which i fixed to the surface of a frozen lake, then recorded the sounds made by throwing or skimming several stones and pebbles across the ice. Wonderful effects can also be achieved by filtering or timestretching the files.

Well, the pond area still had a layer of ice on it, but the birds were getting chatty anyways. Spring may eventually crack around here…. You can hear a freeway in the background, just pretend it's a river, m'kay?. Recorded march 20, 2014 near chicago. I achieved great detail with equalization, but it’s uploaded here au natural so you can do as you like. Cheers!.

Came upon a rock wall full of icicles in the forest, and recorded myself breaking them. One of my favorite sounds, so many rich tones and dramatic cymbals. Recorded in stereo 24 bit 96 khz with the internal mics on a sony m10 with windjammer. Please use this sound for whatever you want, completely free, no restrictions. Although i really appreciate a comment if you use my sound for something interesting. Always fun to hear where my recordings end up :).
